Looking at events happening around the world can provide a great source of stock image inspiration. It’s important to look ahead as customers will often search for images several months before the event. Here’s a sample of the events happening between July and September 2012 which you should start submitting images for now:
19th to 22nd July – The British Open golf championships will be held at Lytham & St Annes in the North of England. Golfing images, particularly high quality shots of people playing golf, could sell well in the run up to this.
27th July to 12th August – The 2012 Summer Olympics take place in London, UK. See our special Olympics/Paralympics blog.
6th to 20th August – Following its launch last November, the Mars Science Laboratory (“Curiosity Rover”) is scheduled to land on Mars this summer. Its mission, which will last for one Martian year (98 weeks), is to investigate whether Mars has, or ever had, an habitable environment. Depending on the results of this expedition there could be a sudden upsurge in interest for images relating to Mars and ‘Martians’.
27th August to 9th September – The US Open tennis championships will be held at Flushing Meadows, New York. Customers are likely to be looking for tennis related images and pictures of the Flushing Meadows area.
29th August to 9th September – The 2012 Summer Paralympic Games will be held in London, UK. See our special Olympics/Paralympics blog coming later this month.
