Please read these terms carefully. Our photos may be used only in accordance with these terms. We have tried to keep them as brief as possible.

General premise

• If you use a free version of a photo you must acknowledge the photographer and FreeDigitalPhotos.net. We insist on this because it is a fair way of rewarding the photographer who has kindly offered their work to you at no charge
• If you purchase the photo acknowledgement is optional

Type of use - applies to free and paid-for versions

• Photos may be used for personal, educational and corporate work
• Photos may be used in products that are sold, but only where the photos are used for illustration or decoration
• Photos may not be used on products where the image is the sole reason someone would buy the product - for example greetings cards, mugs, calendars, T-shirts and so on

Websites - corporate and personal

If you use a free image on a website, you must place a text hyperlink on that website to the photographer's portfolio page on FreeDigitalPhotos.net. This includes forums, blogs and networking sites such as MySpace.

If you purchase the photograph there is no requirement to place a hyperlink.

Printed media, including newspapers and magazines

If you use a free image in printed media, please acknowledge the photographer and FreeDigitalPhotos.net as the image source. This includes newspapers, magazines, newsletters and company literature.

If you purchase the photograph there is no requirement to acknowledge us.

Books, eBooks and CD covers

Our images may be used to illustrate books, eBooks and CDs. If you use a free image you must acknowledge the photographer and FreeDigitalPhotos.net as the image source.

If you purchase the photograph there is no requirement to acknowledge us.

Software, iPhone applications and video games

Our images may be used by software developers in applications and games. If you use a free image you must display a visible acknowledgement to the photographer and FreeDigitalPhotos.net in the program, for example on the loading screen or "about" page.

If you purchase the photograph there is no requirement to acknowledge us.

Video productions

If you use a free image in video productions, please acknowledge the photographer and FreeDigitalPhotos.net as the image source.

If you purchase the photograph there is no requirement to acknowledge us.

Emails - personal and marketing messages

If you use a free image in an email, you must place a text hyperlink within the email to FreeDigitalPhotos.net.

If you purchase the photograph there is no requirement to place a hyperlink.

School projects, including UK GCSE / ICT

Images can be used freely in school projects. Please do not contact us to ask for permission as we are being inundated with requests, particularly from UK GCSE students.

Artist's reference

Photos may be used as reference for artists, but the resulting artwork must be not be sold.

Image manipulation

Our images may be edited using software, however our terms still apply and you must acknowledge the photographer and FreeDigitalPhotos.net (or purchase the image to avoid giving acknowledgement).

PowerPoint, Word and other end-use applications

If you use a free photo, please acknowledge the photographer and FreeDigitalPhotos.net as the image source.

If you purchase the photograph there is no requirement to acknowledge us.

Unacceptable use

You must not:

• offer the images for sale or distribution
• claim them as your own work
• include them in "web templates" which are subject to mass-distribution, whether the templates are free-of-charge or paid-for. This is because of difficulties in ensuring our terms are adhered to by the ultimate website owners. There are no exceptions to this rule
• use them on merchandise where the image is the sole reason someone would buy the product, for example greeting cards, T-shirts, mugs and so on.
